UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA - FRONTIER HALL
Minneapolis, MN
The University of Minnesota chose a design-build delivery process to complete this fast-track student housing project. Designed to match Frontier Hall’s existing architecture, this project adds much needed on-campus housing and modernizes the existing residence hall. The 40,800 sf, four-story addition (with a full basement) features suite-style living with two-room units sharing a central bathroom. The addition accommodates a net increase of 170 students and includes study rooms, laundry room, storage areas, and a mechanical room. The project also includes the remodeling/modernization of the front desk and main entrance, ADA and life safety code upgrades, and installation of air conditioning, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems to the existing Frontier Hall. A fast-track schedule allowed one year for design through project completion. Collaborative Design Group provided architectural, interior design, and structural engineering design services for the project. |
