The Hawthorne Transportation Center incorporates a multi-modal bus terminal with convenient ramp parking and access to the Orpheum Theater by skyway system. It provides a variety of services such as combined operations and transportation offices, centralized security for all city ramps, and the Greyhound/Jefferson Terminal and Charter Bus Facilities. Highlights of the design include:
- The new Greyhound/Jefferson Bus Terminal (approximately 17,500 sf.)
- A 975-space hourly parking facility (approximately 520,000 sf.) with a state-of-the art monitoring system to alert drivers of vacant parking spaces
- City parking operations and accounting offices and security center to serve all City of Minneapolis parking ramps. (24,000 sf.)
- A skyway connecting the existing 7th Street/Third Avenue Distributor (TAD) Garage through the new facility
- Integral space to aid in the coordination of pedestrian, auto, and bus traffic in an efficient, clear and safe manner
- Space and building flexibility to allow for possible future growth, such as additional skyway systems, airport shuttle service, airline ticketing offices, and light rail connections
- Bicycle lockers, showers, and changing rooms.
