Collaborative Design Group's new offices in the historic Power Plant of the landmark Crown Roller Mill, are located on the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis. The space capitalizes on its relationship to the adjacent St. Anthony Falls, Stone Arch Bridge, Lock and Dam #1, Mill Ruins Park, and the entire district of mill and industrial buildings now transformed into a cultural and residential neighborhood. The design is based in the interplay of layers – history, materials, and the traces of long-ago uses, overlaid with the functional needs and ntellectual interests of a leading architectural / engineering practice.
