Collaborative Design Group provided planning, urban design and architectural services for this mixed use development project in Shakopee, Minnesota. The urban design team worked closely with the City of Shakopee and the Redevelopment Authority. The goal was to develop an urban catalyst for future redevelopment in the downtown area. The proposed linear building form provides a terminus to the city edge and incorporates a gateway along the major vehicular axis running through the downtown area.A major component of the project was the community process relative to gaining consensus and building support for the project. The urban design team developed surveys, questionnaires and formal workshops as tools to get community participation and feedback.
